Background & Settlement

In the northern Golan, at the foot of Tel Hermonit at an altitude of 1050 meters above sea level, lies Kibbutz El Rom.

The El-Rom community views itself as Jewish, Zionist, green, and liberal.

The settlement maintains an education system for children from the end of maternity leave until transition to elementary school. Most settlement children have attended the Avital Regional School located in Merom Golan (7-minute drive); in 5781 (2020–2021), a forest school was established in El-Rom as an additional regional school. The school grows from year to year (started with grades 1–3), named 'Yalkut HaRo'im'.

Most students in grades 9–12 attend 'Har VeGai' School in Dafna (25 minutes). Other options include Nofey Golan in Katzrin, the Democratic School in southern Golan, or the Adam VeAdama boarding school in Ortal. The community maintains an informal social education system for school-age children.

There is an active cultural committee; all Hebrew holidays are celebrated together, alongside events like the start of summer vacation, farm holidays, joint encounters with other kibbutzim, and more. Other social initiatives exist such as postpartum meal delivery, women's evenings, and more.

  • Kindergartens - inside the settlement
  • Elementary - 5 min drive (in Kibbutz Merom Golan)
  • Secondary - 25 min drive (in Kibbutz Dafna)

Living on a kibbutz means feeling on cloud nine most days of the year. Sometimes snow falls in winter, but the cherry blossoms bloom in the yard every year.

Comprehensive healthcare services exist a few minutes away in Buq'ata, and an excellent general store is open in the settlement with extended hours. There is a gym privately operated by a kibbutz member.

The expansion includes 1-dunam plots for private self-build construction.

Expansion plots are not currently offered.
