Ma'alot HaGolan House of Education is a growing community house of education established in 2020. It currently numbers about 65 boys and girls in grades 1-3 and about 10 staff members, who take on various roles and lead their own initiatives and dreams as well as those of the children.
Ma'alot HaGolan House of Education is a growing community house of education of the Ma'alot HaGolan community.
We believe in experiential, relevant, personal, and multidisciplinary learning – with a deep connection to nature, the environment, and the community. We encourage entrepreneurship, listening, and dreaming – to build a learning space that respects the pace of the children and their inner world. Learning here takes place holistically according to monthly themes, ending with a PBL (Project-Based Learning) product. Our children learn to evaluate themselves in diverse ways, to set goals for themselves, and to progress as individuals and as a group.
A graduate of the House of Education will have skills in independent learning, personal responsibility, the ability to choose, and taking responsibility for those choices. Our graduates will leave with time and task management skills, creative thinking, and leadership abilities based on reflective feedback that advances them to the next step.
Taking environmental responsibility, responsibility towards others, the ability to conduct respectful discourse, tolerance for different opinions, teamwork skills, entrepreneurship, and activism to promote environmental projects are some of the skills the House of Education cultivates and promotes in every graduate.
We learn to ask questions? And use fewer exclamation marks!
Personalized Education – opening and closing daily circles, building individual plans, children leading their learner days and summarizing their learning processes independently and with guidance.
Interdisciplinary Learning – learning through PBL – project-based learning. Diverse subjects are studied holistically toward a final product.
Developing Skills and Values Within the Curriculum Alongside Knowledge Acquisition – building a monthly plan of diverse learning providing diverse experiences in light of the graduate profile. For example, on the annual field trip, children prepare activities and study the subjects a month in advance, experiencing teamwork, public speaking, guiding skills, and more.
Active and Reflective Learning - the daily schedule is flowing and flexible, without bells, learning occurs at diverse learning stations where children gradually learn to manage their time, investigate, discover, and experiment with choice processes.

The educational center community places core themes at the center of its educational practice that serve as a North Star for all educational endeavor:
Throughout learning, the child is active, experiencing, discovering, and creating in ways relevant to their world. We encourage children to cultivate the ability to observe their surroundings and place fewer exclamation marks and more question marks across every topic and domain we engage with.
The daily schedule moves across diverse learning environments indoors and outdoors – classrooms with alternative modular furniture alongside child-friendly desks and chairs, outdoor chalkboards, and extensive learning in the surrounding nature.
Learning is multi-age – across various subjects, children from different grades learn together according to shared interests and proficiency levels.
On select days of the week, staff utilizes co-teaching – two teachers in the classroom modeling optimal collaborative teamwork for the children. Co-teaching enables one teacher to assist children at different learning stations while another teacher conducts focused small-group instruction.
