Who We Are

Mitzpe Golan - A Community Home for Learning, Growth, and Self-Realization

Education in the school is based on the following principles:

  • Experiential learning - Learning has different faces, outside the classroom and age framework. Bi-age learning takes place, breaking the home classroom framework into diverse learning spaces.
  • Choice - The children's ability to choose has been expanded both in the academic field and in enrichment areas.
  • Research and development of thinking processes - Most hours in the learning spaces take place in the style of inquiry-based learning - a product process that will end with the presentation of a product (model, presentation, exhibit, written work, poster, etc.).

Educational Concept

We aspire to enable all school attendees learning and personal development in a protected and supportive environment, based on connecting the circles of learners, staff, and community while encouraging a dialogical culture.

We believe that all our students should be allowed to learn in a way that will lead to self-expression and empowerment of their abilities and skills, and we provide our children with opportunities to express themselves in various fields, in order to grow and realize themselves.

We emphasize providing a wide range of choices and promote independent, experiential, and creative learning that renews over time, from the perception that learning has different faces and that it takes place in diverse learning spaces, inside and outside the classroom.

We want to instill in our graduates a sense of belonging to the community, culture, heritage, and the Golani-Israeli environment, as well as develop the capacity for continuous self-learning, leadership and entrepreneurship, taking responsibility, and developing sensitivity and social and community involvement.

We promote community involvement in shared dialogue, to integrate school educational values and goals, with an emphasis on a continuous and comprehensive educational perception.

  1. Empowering Strengths - Identifying and giving expression to diverse strengths and areas of interest of all members of the school community, catering to diversity and promoting belonging, self-efficacy, and community partnership. We believe that staff and students who recognize and express their abilities and strengths will realize their potential and possess motivation and personal responsibility reflected toward surrounding circles of belonging. These principles are reflected in school teams, empowerment groups, and more.
  2. Choice and Autonomy - Providing autonomy and diverse teaching, learning, and assessment processes that encourage entrepreneurship, innovation, and independent study. Through these principles, we emphasize creativity, curiosity and inquiry, analysis and evaluation, critical thinking, and ethical judgment. These principles are reflected in extensive utilization of school campus resources, dynamic learner grouping, and varied learning processes, rooted in the understanding that learning occurs everywhere, across numerous interactions and diverse encounters.
  3. Encouraging Belonging and Community - Coordination, sharing, and continuous connection between members of the school community and school partners, including parent leadership, the community center, and informal community educators. We strive to connect personal, educational, and professional development in a supportive environment with instilling a sense of belonging to the community, culture, heritage, and environment. These principles are reflected in nurturing extensive school traditions and diverse processes connecting the individual to peers and community.

"Playing School" (Beit Sefer Menagen) - exposure to the field of music in foundational grades, learning wind instruments in 4th grade, participating in diverse orchestras and musical ensembles (wind, drums, guitars, and vocals) by choice in grades 5–8.

Empowerment Programs - following needs mapping, individualized and group responses are tailored in various programs such as the "Living Corner", juggling, art, computers and media in the innovation center, language reinforcement programs, excellence groups in thinking development and mathematics, creative play space activity, and additional municipal programs. Additionally, unique programs operate in four special advancement classes such as "Class Dog", music, nautical center, and integration into homeroom classes.

School Teams / Elective Cohorts (Nivcharot) - exposure processes to enrichment fields in foundational grades, identifying strengths and choice, providing opportunities to belong to social groups in grades 5–8 around shared interests of staff members and students: sports, music, outdoor field trips, community contribution (climate and safety, student councils, "Etgarim" - O.D.T.), media, art, thinking games.

Diverse Learning Processes and Educational Spaces - we frequently study in diverse outdoor spaces such as the "Living Corner" at the heart of the school featuring abundant animals and plants, inquiry learning, field trips, and participating in Golan environmental programs. We facilitate in-depth personal and professional development processes for staff members and encourage the development of unique instructional units and participation in competitions of various kinds.

Educational Continuum and Community Connection - we maintain an "open door" policy of dialogue and partnership with class parent leaderships, school leadership, connecting the community to ceremonies and community peak events, partnership with welfare and counseling bodies, and student volunteering in mentoring foundational classes, kindergarten frameworks, senior citizen settings, and according to emerging needs.
