The Youth Advancement Unit is a framework operating for youth aged 14–18 who need a tailored educational-therapeutic response and significant accompaniment on their personal and academic path. The unit provides a safe and inclusive environment, combining flexible learning, individual and group accompaniment, life skills development, and gradual connection to the employment world and society. The work in the unit is based on a personal connection, setting clear boundaries, and believing in the ability of every boy and girl to grow, choose, and progress towards a better future.
The unit is located in Katzrin and includes about 40 boys and girls from various moshavim and settlements throughout the Golan.
The unit's staff consists of experienced teachers and educational-therapeutic personnel, alongside a young, committed, and highly motivated staff. The combination of professional experience and a young, innovative spirit allows for the creation of a meaningful connection, consistent daily presence, and the ability to tailor relevant responses to the changing world of teenagers.
The work in the unit relies on a holistic and broad response, seeing the boy or girl within the entirety of their lives – emotional, academic, social, and family. Alongside the daily work with the youth, continuous contact is maintained with various factors in the community and with parents, from a perception of partnership and shared responsibility for the process. The connection with parents includes open dialogue, accompaniment, updating, and mediation, with the aim of strengthening the educational-therapeutic continuum and supporting the optimal development of the boys and girls within the home, the unit, and the community.
