Who We Are

Ma'alot HaGolan – Growing from a question – Creating a world from learning

Educational Concept

Ma'alot HaGolan House of Education is a growing community house of education of the Ma'alot HaGolan community.

We believe in experiential, relevant, personal, and multidisciplinary learning – with a deep connection to nature, the environment, and the community. We encourage entrepreneurship, listening, and dreaming – to build a learning space that respects the pace of the children and their inner world. Learning here takes place holistically according to monthly themes, ending with a PBL product. Our children learn to evaluate themselves in diverse ways, to set goals for themselves, and to progress as individuals and as a group.

A graduate of the House of Education will have skills in independent learning, personal responsibility, the ability to choose, and taking responsibility for those choices. Our graduates will leave with time and task management skills, creative thinking, and leadership abilities based on reflective feedback that advances them to the next step.

Taking environmental responsibility, responsibility towards others, the ability to conduct respectful discourse, tolerance for different opinions, teamwork skills, entrepreneurship, and activism to promote environmental projects are some of the skills the House of Education cultivates and promotes in every graduate.

We learn to ask questions? And use fewer exclamation marks!

  1. Personalized Education - The educational center works to strengthen personal identity and resilience, developing self-awareness and reflective ability.
  2. Interdisciplinary Learning - The educational center leads the learning of diverse subjects around focused themes.
  3. Experiential Learning for Skill and Value Development - The educational center cultivates children who know how to see others, and become independent, active learners.
  4. Active and Reflective Learning - At the educational center, learning is experiential, developing diverse learning functions and providing tools for independent learning.

Personalized Education – Opening and closing daily circles, building individualized plans; children lead learner days and summarize their learning processes independently and with guidance.

Interdisciplinary Learning – Learning through PBL – project-based learning. Diverse curriculum topics are studied holistically toward a final product.

Skill and Value Development Within the Curriculum Alongside Knowledge Acquisition – Building a monthly plan of diverse learning providing varied experiences reflecting the graduate profile. For example, during the annual field trip, children prepare activities and study subjects a month in advance, experiencing teamwork, public speaking, guiding skills, and more.

Active and Reflective Learning - The daily schedule is flowing and flexible, without bells; learning takes place at diverse learning stations where children gradually learn to manage their time, investigate, discover, and experiment with choice processes.
