"Yalkut HaRoim” A Forest, Crafts, and Arts House of Education
''Yalkut HaRoim" is a growing regional primary forest school. Our approach advocates the forest as a healthy space for children's development.
A forest, crafts, and arts house of education, accompanying boys and girls on a journey of growth, development, and connection to the world, from 1st grade until the end of 8th grade. These years are the heart of childhood – years of slow and continuous processes alongside deep and rapid changes. During this period, the boys and girls develop from early childhood towards adolescence and adulthood, with the close, loving, and professional accompaniment of the educational staff.
The educational concept of the House of Education sees the forest as a central and significant developmental space, inviting processes of observation, connection, experience, and learning at a natural pace.
The educational staff accompanies the children over the years out of deep observation, mapping, and adapted accompaniment of personal and group developmental processes, in accordance with the developmental concept in Waldorf education. This connection between the child and their world, themselves, others, and nature is intended to grow a free, independent, and responsible adult, who sees themselves as part of their human and natural environment and acts within it out of caring and awareness.
Learning at the educational center is steeped in art, crafts, and ancient skills, reinforcing independence, creativity, perseverance, collaboration, and a sense of self-efficacy in boys and girls alike. This is coupled with simple daily activities – food preparation, communal dining, order, and maintaining an inviting space – which are viewed as an inseparable part of the educational act.
The educators at „Yalkut HaRo'im” are meaningful adults, acting out of a deep connection to their educational calling and a commitment to ongoing professional and personal growth. They accompany their classes over the years with love and professionalism, knowing the children deeply – both as individuals and as part of a class group walking a shared path through significant years of growth. From this accompaniment, a warm, supportive, challenging, and constructive educational environment is created.
Parents in the educational center community are full partners along the way. The continuous collaboration between home and school creates a complete educational continuum. The community holds joint learning gatherings, celebration and action events in autumn and spring, and a periodic newsletter reflecting educational activities.
The forest is at the heart of our educational work – a living, breathing, and ever-changing space that invites opportunities for learning „from life” and enables deep familiarity with the natural environment. As the children grow, and in accordance with the developmental stage where learning moves from experience and imitation toward intellectual deepening and self-identity formation, the „Yurt Village” space occupies a more significant place in the educational routine, alongside learning in the forest.
The educational staff is responsible for developing and writing an innovative eight-year pedagogy, combining a connection to the forest with core subjects, crafts, arts, and ancient skills, working in full cooperation with the Ministry of Education to align learning methods with ministry requirements, while simultaneously preserving the unique identity of the educational center.
The educational center is rooted in the Golan community, maintaining a vital connection with its human and cultural environment, among other ways through meetings with local artisans, tours, and learning in Buq'ata as part of Arabic studies.
„Yalkut HaRo'im” is in an ongoing process of organizational development, aimed at formulating a shared language and a living, dynamic, and evolving organizational culture. This process supports the realization of the vision: accompanying boys and girls on a journey connected to life, humanity, the earth, and the spirit.
