- 7th–8th Grade Students Set Out... Journey on the Move
Shorashim School

'Take a stick, take a backpack, come with me to the Galilee...'
One of the cornerstones of the school's educational philosophy is a deep connection to nature. The trip, part of the cohort's 3-day 'Sea to Sea' journey for 7th–8th grades at 'Shorashim' school, represents a fundamental building block in homeland knowledge, connecting to nature and to each student's inner self, in the belief that coping with challenges nurtures the student and provides a diverse and unique learning experience.
The students set out on a shared journey, a 3-day mobile trek that included walking many kilometers throughout the day, preparing meals outdoors together with staff members, gathering wood in the evening for campfires, and outdoor camping as is customary with us. It was a noble coping experience with a demanding journey.
The children climbed mountains, splashed in cool waters, and most importantly bonded together, enjoying the shared experiences offered by a journey in nature.
Grade level parents share that they could sense the amazing experiences the children underwent; the children behaved exemplarily and operated together in group camaraderie, and evening visits by parents added to the warm, embracing atmosphere.
Parents commend that these journeys constitute an important and meaningful component of the school culture, and extend heartfelt thanks to the educators and staff members who made the trip so successful and special!
