The Golan – A Settlement Region
The Golan is a settlement, tourism, agricultural, and entrepreneurial region. Here, wild nature harmoniously merges with a glorious Jewish history, whose impressive remains narrate the long-standing settlement story in the Golan. The residents of the Golan established a flourishing settlement endeavor encompassing 33 communities, advanced agriculture, thriving tourism, and a cohesive community. Every year, new families join the Golan community, choosing to build their homes here and raise their children in the wide-open spaces. The Golan Regional Council is located in the northeastern region of the State of Israel, east of the Sea of Galilee. The council's jurisdiction extends over approximately 1,100,000 dunams, from Mount Hermon in the north to Hamat Gader in the south, comprising 32 rural communities: 9 kibbutzim, 18 moshavim, and 5 communal settlements.
